Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Virginia Department of
Health is currently seeking an experienced Deputy Director of
Grants Management to join our Office of Grants Administration. This
role provides strategic leadership for the department’s grant
operations and staff performance. It oversees supervision,
training, and performance management to ensure a capable and well
supported workforce. The position directs the centralized review of
grant applications and budgets, ensuring alignment with
Commonwealth policies and effective use of resources. It
establishes and maintains grant management policies, ensures
regulatory compliance, leads training initiatives, and serves as
the primary liaison on audit and federal grantor issues.
Additionally, it oversees the integrity of grant data systems and
documentation processes, supports system improvements, and
contributes to departmental readiness during emergencies. Minimum
Qualifications • Successful experience in grants management •
Team-oriented thinker and strategist able to effectively respond to
complicated situations • Considerable experience with federal grant
management in a complex governmental environment, including
knowledge of funding sources, administrative requirements, cost
principles, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
related to grant writing, administration, and management. •
Experience managing a comprehensive grant management program,
including overseeing process improvements and facilitating grants
management training. • Experience in supervising and leading staff
and teams to achieve program goals and objectives. • Experience
preparing and presenting clear, concise, and comprehensive reports
both in writing and verbally, to various stakeholders, including
executive leadership. • Strong analytical skills to identify
problems, propose solutions, and implement actions to align with
agency objectives, ensuring effective outcomes Additional
