Job Description Job Description Position Summary The General
Maintenance Worker performs technical maintenance and repair work
on water and wastewater systems. This role also provides
operational support to Water/Wastewater Treatment plants as needed.
The position focuses primarily on Repair & Maintenance (90%) with
occasional Operations support (10%). Overtime, weekend, holiday,
and on-call work may be required. Key Responsibilities Perform
preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on water
distribution systems, including valves, hydrants, meters, and
mains. Maintain wastewater collection systems: mains, manholes,
clean-outs, lift stations, and related equipment. Operate and
maintain process equipment including pumps, blowers, motors, and
electrical controls. Clean and maintain wet wells, lift stations,
facilities, and grounds. Prepare orders for maintenance materials,
spare parts, and equipment. Make equipment adjustments and report
serious issues promptly. Maintain computerized and manual records;
prepare daily reports and work order updates. Coordinate work with
outside utility maintenance contractors as needed. Follow company
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies; wear and use
proper PPE. Assist plant operators with operational tasks as
directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Education High School
Diploma or GED required Additional trade-specific courses preferred
Skills Safe operation of hand tools, pneumatic tools, air
compressors, and other small maintenance equipment Experience with
light-duty electrical systems (240V, single- and three-phase) and
instrumentation calibration Ability to supervise or direct
excavation crews for underground utility repairs Experience
operating a backhoe and small dump truck Knowledge Mechanical
operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems
Electrical systems related to assigned equipment Proper operation
of hydraulic, pneumatic, and telemetry systems National Electrical
Code (NEC) standards Water and wastewater processes; ability to
operate distribution and collection systems independently
Occupational health and safety regulations Experience Minimum 5
years of experience maintaining water distribution systems, pump
stations, wastewater collection systems, and lift stations
Certifications & Licenses Valid state driver’s license required;
CDL preferred Must pass motor vehicle background check
State-certified Water and Wastewater Operator license preferred
