components and systems. This position envisions how the optical
design project will be completed, identifies critical aspects,
defines the system architecture, and required functionality. The
Senior Optical Engineer plays a lead, multi-disciplinary role early
in the development cycle, documenting requirements, then proceeding
with design synthesis and system validation while considering the
operations, performance, test, manufacturing, cost, and schedule.
The position applies advanced knowledge of Optical
Engineering/Optics and expert application of engineering science

plan and test optical systems and related components and devices;
Oversee the optical design concepts and prototype development
activities to ensure compliance to specifications and promote
effective production processes, ensure optimal performance, and
cost-efficiency.* Create schematics or other physical layouts of
integrated optical systems and components consistent with company
process and functional constraints. Create or maintain formal
engineering documents such as Bills of Material (BOMs), Engineering
Change Notifications (ECNs), release documentation, and design
document packages.* Define and execute optical design verification
test plans; Conduct analyses addressing issues such as failure,
reliability, tolerance analysis or instrument performance
improvement; Bench test prototypes (first article) and provide test
support for existing life-cycle products; Support incoming
inspection of optical materials and assemblies.* Troubleshoot,
solve, and refine final optical designs to optimize designs for
target dimensions, physical tolerances, or processing constraints.
Designs must be robust and tolerant of fabrication and assembly
processes and analyzed for performance in the presence of the
environmental conditions demanded by the application.* Interface
with mechanical and electrical engineers to complete systems
modeling, analysis, and methods of performance verification.* Drive
