Job Description:

The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for executing and assisting in the completion of security certifications and for providing support in the development and implementation of a program to manage all aspects of compliance with government regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge / quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative / motivation, cooperation / relationships, problem analysis / discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral / written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability / dependability, flexibility and ownership / accountability of actions taken. Develops security assessment plans. Carries out technical security assessments of all selected management, operational and technical security controls. Documents the results of the assessment, and a concurrent risk assessment, in a Security Assessment Report (SAR). Develops POA & M Reports including all identified weaknesses, recommends actions for remediation or mitigation and provides weakness criticality ratings based on the risk assessment results. Provides multi-discipline security administrative and technical security support to the IA RMF and Continuous Monitoring Programs. Areas of responsibility include: Physical, Computer, Personnel, Information, Administrative, Operational, Communications Security analysis, assessment and reporting. Conducts annual security controls effectiveness testing. Documents findings. Advises and monitors remediation efforts on all systems. Annually reviews and assesses external partner and affiliate infrastructure to maintain the acceptable risk level set by the customers Authorizing Official (AO). Analyzes major IT systems from a security perspective during the initial phases of system development and throughout the systems development lifecycle. Provides continuous monitoring of program support and strategic security control implementation and assessment. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years relevant experience; or Master's Degree and three (3) years relevant experience; or six (6) years relevant experience. Must have eight (8) years relevant IT or consulting experience with a preferred focus on IT security policies, architectures, and/or standard operating procedures; or, six (6) years minimum experience in an information security or information assurance role and a minimum of five (5) years direct experience with information security and delivering RMF and security assessment activities in accordance with NIST SP 800-37 (as amended) preferred. Industry recognized technical certification accepted in lieu of two years of experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION CISSP certification is required. JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Effective verbal and written communications skills with ability to organize, document, present and explain information Ability to escalate issues in a timely manner Ability to apply logic and reasoning to goals and assumptions Ability to coordinate efforts with others for the timely completion of projects and deliverables Ability to work well both individually and in a team environment Ability to be self-motivated and to deliver quality products with limited direction and guidance Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professiona1journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
