Job Description:

The Director of Awards and Recognition develops and administers the FBLA awards and recognition programs including the competitive events programs for middle school, high school, and collegiate divisions. In collaboration with the Competitive Events Committee, the Director evaluates, updates, and administers the competitive events program to ensure it aligns with national education and industry standards and trends and FBLA's mission. Duties and Responsibilities Competitive Events Management

  • Leads the strategy, implementation, and refinement of current and new competitive events
  • Ensures alignment of FBLA competitive events with state and NBEA national curriculum standards
  • Secures test writers, validators, and editors for all competitive levels
  • In collaboration with a third-party testing vendor, manages the online testing program, including the test bank database and state and national online testing
  • Manages the national judge procurement process including research, follow-up, onsite conference judge orientation, and issuing post-conference "thank you" correspondence
  • Develops and updates the competitive events reporting system, and existing event guidelines and rating sheets
  • Distributes states' national tests for use at their State Leadership Conference
  • Ensures the national conference competitive events' procedures manual is updated and current
  • In collaboration with the Director of Education Programs, identifies, and plans the logistical and scheduling requirements for competitive events at the national conference
  • Secures bids and places orders for national conference awards and gifts
  • In collaboration with the President/CEO and Development Manager, researches and recommends business and industry partners for the competitive events
  • Maintains consistent and timely competitive events communication with key state contacts
  • Presents and/or moderates conferences and workshops as required
  • In collaboration with a third-party testing vendor, coordinates the Comprehensive Business Exam program including updating the exam questions
  • Updates competitive events section of FBLA website and submits articles and highlights to various FBLA publications in coordination with the Director of Communications and Marketing
  • Responsible for developing membership study guidesRecognition Programs
    • Administers the recognition programs on behalf of FBLA

      • National Leadership Conference Scholarships
      • Coordination of Financial Aid Programs as determined by the Board of Directors and/or Financial Aid and Scholarship CommitteeManagerial Functions
        • Develops and adheres to annual awards and recognition budget and ensures proper accounting and financial reporting for the department
        • Provides oversight and direction to Awards Coordinator in accordance with FBLA's policies and procedures Experience, Education, and Skills
          • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree a plus.
          • Five - ten years' program management experience (preferably at a non-profit, volunteer membership association)
          • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, presentation, organizational, and verbal and written skills
          • Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to clearly and effectively articulate information to different audiences
          • Strong project management skills including ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
          • Proficiency in MS Office365 (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
          • Proven ability to work in a team-based environment
