13, 2025Iteris is seeking a Project Engineering Manager who will be
responsible for coordinating technical aspects of projects at the
system and subsystem levels. This role ensures effective
cross-functional collaboration, manages project engineering
activities, and serves as the primary technical liaison between
internal teams and external stakeholders. The Project Engineering
Manager oversees technical specifications, system architecture, and
engineering team coordination while ensuring compliance with
project timelines and quality standards. This position involves a
high degree of technical leadership and requires strong project
execution skills.What you will be doing:
- Lead the technical handover from the Bid Management Team during
project kickoff
- Define the system and subsystem architecture for the
project
- Ensure effective interdisciplinary coordination, resolving
technical conflicts across teams
- Conduct technical progress meetings with clients and manage
client technical relationships
- Oversee engineering deliverables, ensuring timely submission
per project schedules
- Draft system-level technical specification documents, including
interface registers
- Allocate responsibilities for drafting project technical
deliverables to functional teams
- Provide engineering teams with clear project instructions and
procedures
- Maintain the functional interface register and ensure
consistency in mechanical/electrical interfaces
- Lead design reviews and coordinate stakeholder input for
project milestones
- Support factory acceptance phases alongside the Validation &
Verification (V&V) Team
- Participate in customer-site acceptance testing and collaborate
with technical specialists
- Assist the Customer Service function in project handover after
system acceptance
- Ensure project compliance with engineering risk management and
technical requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams, including Commercial,
Purchasing, Quality, Production, Logistics, R&D, and Customer
Service
- Provide technical insights to the Purchasing Function for
subcontractor contracts
- Support the Requirements Manager in contract and project
requirements analysis
- Assist the Configuration Manager in tracking system baselines,
firmware, and software versions
- Work closely with the Customer Service and Quality teams to
address non-conformities
- Prepare progress reports detailing technical project activities
and deviation analyses
- Support risk management strategies related to engineering
concerns
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and company
engineering policiesWhat you need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (required)
- A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration or
Project Management (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering project
management
- Strong background in detailed engineering activities,
preferably in metro/railway projects
- Hands-on experience with testing, commissioning, and system
integration (preferred)
- Strong leadership, planning, and personnel management
abilities
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in
technical environments
- Ability to interface effectively with both internal teams and
external stakeholders
- Strong documentation and reporting skills for technical project
management
- Availability to travel (primarily within the Atlantic Coast
States area)Iteris anticipates paying between $140,500 and $156,500
for this role. However, actual pay offered may vary depending on
