Overview

At Le Pain Quotidien, the General Manager is the leader of the restaurant and the face of our brand. The GM has overall responsibility for managing the daily operations of one LPQ restaurant, ensuring consistent delivery of the guest experience, financial results (i.e. increased profitability and sales), and staff experience and development (i.e. increased retention and leadership development). They will manage the restaurant P&L, and in doing so will have an impact on the overall results of the global business. The GM interacts with various positions throughout the organization from restaurant level to our global corporate office. This position oversees the management team and team members at their LPQ restaurant and reports directly into a district manager for their restaurant location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Serves as a role model for Le Pain Quotidien's 10 qualities; represents the image and leadership style that is reflective of Le Pain Quotidien's core values
  • Builds a high-performing restaurant team and develops them to manage an overall high-performing location
  • Assumes full ownership and accountability for the profit and loss management of the restaurant location
    Business Planning and Execution
    • Uses financial reporting, analysis, and critical thinking to manage labor, inventory, and all other business lines to achieve optimal results
    • Responsible for creating a marketing plan that will drive comp sales and enhance the one restaurant, one neighborhood mission of Le Pain Quotidien
    • Creates and updates full business strategy plan for their restaurant and delivers plan to DM and RDO
      Management
      • Has an adequate understanding of HR policies and procedures. Educates team on and enforces all appropriate personnel policies, Federal and State labor laws, and security and safety procedures
      • Manages the milestones in employee life-cycles; Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and retaining a team of all top performers ; Makes decisions on promotions and terminations of team members and takes the appropriate action
      • Ensures team morale and restaurant ambiance is being upheld to Le Pain Quotidien's high standards by constantly coaching and having development conversations throughout the day
        Guest Service and Product Quality
        • Regularly inspects the restaurant equipment, food, and team behavior to maintain compliance with relevant regulatory rules and licenses, and with Le Pain Quotidien's standards
        • Confidently handles guests complaints, concerns and service issues with grace; focuses on finding solutions and resolving issues quickly
        • Enriches the Le Pain Quotidien experience by being a presence on the floor and effectively builds relationships with our guests, ensuring repeat visits
          Executing with Excellence
          • Ensures implementation of all agreed standards with product, service, and systems
          • Responsible for completion of duties including banking, Cash Handling policies and responsibilities, Loss Prevention audits, and various management platforms; has an ability to troubleshoot when necessary
          • Depending on the needs of the business, may complete other duties as assigned to advance or resolve a particular project or business issue
            REQUIREMENTS
            • Associates degree. or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or at least 5 years related experience
            • Minimum 2 years of management experience
            • S./B.A desirable
            • Must have State/Local Food Handler's certifications (varies by city and state)
            • State/Local Alcohol Training and/or certifications (varies by city and state), depending upon restaurant location
            • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
            • Flexibility in schedule with the ability to work early mornings, weekends, and evenings
