DescriptionJob Description:PROGRAM SUMMARY:Department of Defense Healthcare Management System Modernization (DHMSM) Program, a highly visible $4.3B single award IDIQ vehicle that provides support to the Defense Health Agency. The DHMSM program is the DoD's leading program designed to deploy a modern electronic health record (EHR) system across the United States and around the globe. Leidos, with core partners Cerner, Accenture, and Henry Schein, will support the DHMSM Program Executive Office (PEO) and the Defense Health Agency in the global deployment of our proposed EHR that will deliver improved system capability to the DoD whenever and wherever healthcare is required. The DHMSM system will provide important health IT capabilities to 9.6 million active military, their families, and their beneficiaries. The system will replace the current EHR AHLTA/CHCS, which Leidos built and currently provides sustainment services at locations around the world.Leidos has a DHMSM Physician Champion Opening!JOB DESCRIPTION:Leidos is seeking a licensed Physician with electronic health record, medical practice experience and outstanding professional reputation to serve as Program Physician Champion for the DHMSM Program. This senior physician IT leader will work collaboratively with DHA clinicians, DHMSM Program Office and Leidos staff to optimize the MHS GENESIS electronic medical record that will promote safe, efficient, and effective practices and decision making among physician and hospital providers-of-care. The role of the Physician Champion is focused on positively influencing physicians to participate in and embrace the technical and operational changes that will result from the deployment of MHS GENESIS.The Physician Champion will also lead efforts to utilize information technology to support clinical quality programs; promote a positive IT organizational culture and represent the organization in appropriate forums. Our ideal candidate remains current with new technologies, national and local issues effecting healthcare information technology and their potential influence on the organization. The Physician Champion will serve as the Government's major point of contact and provide overall leadership and guidance for all Leidos and its partner personnel assigned to that area on the program. The Physician Champion will be a direct report to the DHMSM PM who has overall responsibility for the DHMSM contract.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING!

  • Be visible as a strong proponent of MHS GENESIS
  • Relationship and alignment with customer clinical executives within the DHMSM Program Office, DHMS PEO, and the DHA Health Informatics Office
  • Thought leadership and strategy for supporting EHR governance design and execution at the enterprise and facility level
  • Drive stakeholder engagement and integration across specialties with a focus on workflow integration between medical and dental
  • Develop strategy for provider stakeholder engagement and clinical adoption
  • Support Training Manager in the strategic direction over provider Education, Training and curriculum design
  • Support design of new capabilities and optimization efforts supporting quality and efficient care delivery
  • Leverage technical and health data to improve clinical adoption
  • Provide demos and hands on sessions with key providers and other medical professionals in representing "day in the life" with focus on documentation and computerized physician order entry (CPOE)
  • Significant interaction with members of the program team to include the Program Manager, Chief Health Information Officer and his/her staff, as well as various other functional or support organizationsFACTORS FOR SUCCESS!!
    • Licensed Physician and 12+ years prior relevant experience OR Master's degree with 10+ years of prior relevant experience
    • Five to seven years of experience in medical management as a CMO, CMIO, CQO, or VP Medical Affairs or as clinical leader in E.H.R. implementation
    • Demonstrable and credible experience in clinical practice so that he/she will be able to relate credibly to a diverse and exceptionally trained medical staff
    • Progressive leadership in healthcare activities with clear achievements in these domains
    • Knowledgeable in how clinical transformation and clinical performance/quality improvement and reporting can co-evolve with continued changes in business models, technology, regulatory environment, advancements in health/life sciences, consumer behavior, etc., and provide tangible, value-added input as Leidos develops new solutions to address this evolution
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skills
    • Experience with DOD Military Health
    • Change agent with an outstanding record in clinical transformation, best practices, quality care improvement, governance, and risk mitigation
    • Strong background in strategy and execution of electronic medical records leveraging evidence-based medicine, clinical decision support, and analytics to improve outcomes and patient satisfaction while reducing costs
    • Ability to work and communicate with remote clients, vendors, and team members
    • Experience in large scale Health IT and specifically EHR deployment projects
    • Specific experience with clinical engagement, training, and change management
    • US Citizenship Required-All candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearanceHOW TO STAND OUT!!
      • Previous military experience
      • Board certified in clinical informatics
      • An MBA, MPH, or other advanced management degree is highly desirable
