S.T.A.B.L.E. Must-Have: NICU II experience and CPAP experience
required Description: NICU RN with required experience is needed
for a local position. Must have the ability to care for neonates 34
weeks and older. Responsibilities include consistent monitoring and
maintaining the stability of cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic
and thermal functions. The role may involve assisting with
specialized procedures, such as lumbar puncture and endotracheal
resuscitation of newborns that are 32 weeks or greater. Initiating,
modifying or stopping treatment must be performed according to
established protocols or orders. Every other weekend and holiday
shifts will be required. Floating to postpartum and labor and
delivery for neonatal care is expected. Proficiency in respiratory
support via high flow oxygen, CPAP, bubble CPAP, and mechanical
ventilation is necessary. Management of central lines, peripheral
IV insertions, lab draws, and administration of IV antibiotics is
required. Increased knowledge of apnea and bradycardia related to
pre-term infants is essential. Stabilization of newborns less than
32 weeks is necessary, along with preparation for transport to a
higher-level facility. Thermoregulation knowledge for both
premature and full-term infants is critical. Knowledge and
certification in neonatal resuscitation are mandatory. Two
supervisor references are required for consideration. The daily
census within the unit averages 2-3 patients. This position
involves working within an interdisciplinary support team. The
candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide thorough patient
and family teaching. Completion of any required modules is
anticipated prior to and during the assignment. Requirements
