Provide specialized nursing care on a cardiac medical stepdown unit, delivering expert assessment, coordination, and treatment to patients requiring intermediate critical care. This role involves managing complex patient conditions such as cardiac, surgical, renal, and respiratory issues while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal care outcomes. Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans Administer medications safely following protocols and monitor treatment effectiveness Manage patients with multi-system organ failures using advanced nursing techniques Operate specialized equipment including cardiac monitors, Alaris pumps, BiPAP, and more Coordinate patient care across departments and act as a liaison with family and caregivers Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety standards Provide patient education and support coping mechanisms during illness and recovery Qualifications: Current RN license in good standing; compact license holders considered Minimum one year of RN experience, preferably with acute care hospital background BLS and ACLS certification required; NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred Proficient in lab draws and cardiac rhythm management, including drips and titrations Ability to pass an EKG exam at orientation (study resources provided) Skilled at using electronic health records and proficient with critical care equipment Strong clinical judgment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Additional Details: 36-hour work weeks on a 12-hour day shift schedule Weekend and major holiday rotations required, with no blocked scheduling except potential weekend blocks Navy blue and white scrubs dress code Staffing ratios typically range from 1:3 to 1:4, subject to change This contract position, ideal for those willing to relocate or travel, offers the opportunity to advance your clinical expertise on a busy stepdown unit serving a diverse patient population.
