Job Description:
MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical
Nurse II to join our Special Care Nursery team. The ideal candidate
will provide nurturing and professional care to newborns who
require special medical attention, often due to prematurity,
illness, or other conditions. With a patient-first approach, this
role demands a commitment to delivering the highest standard of
nursing practice that MedStar Health prides itself on. The Special
Care Nursery environment offers a state-of-the-art facility
equipped to meet the complex needs of our patients while supporting
their families through a challenging time. Provide direct and
comprehensive nursing care to newborns in the Special Care Nursery.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and
implement nursing care plans. Monitor and ensure the health and
well-being of infants receiving specialized medical care. Educate
and support families, providing them with the necessary tools to
care for their infants post-discharge. Maintain accurate and
detailed reports and records of patients' health and progress.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and observe for
any side effects. Participate in continuous professional
development activities and stay abreast of advancements in neonatal
care. Strong clinical skills with the ability to work effectively
in a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills to interact with children and families.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using
medical software and patient management systems. Registered Nurse
(RN) license in the state of practice. Neonatal Resuscitation
Program (NRP) certification. Certification in Pediatric Advanced
Life Support (PALS) is preferred.
