General Public - G Job Duties Western State Hospital is seeking a
part-time/wage/PRN Physician II - OD Physician who will perform the
required admission assessment of patients brought to the hospital
and respond to the acute medical/psychiatric needs of all
inpatients for the duration of the on-call period. Who We Are:

Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the

towns, our hospital serves adults with serious mental health needs
and is nationally recognized for our Psychosocial Rehabilitation

This position will also collaborate with on-call admission
coordinator regarding any afterhours referrals to determine
appropriateness of admission and medical clearance; conduct
Admission assessment, including: history, physical exam, mental
status, suicide/risk assessment, risk factors for seclusion and
restraint, initial laboratory studies, AIMS screening, admitting
orders, preliminary treatment and management of medical and
psychiatric problems; assess and manage acute psychiatric and
medical issues which occur during the on-call shift on all patients
in the hospital. Consultation with back-up medical or psychiatric
physician when indicated; arrange for or transfer of patients
requiring higher level of services or care to the University of
Virginia or Augusta Health; and provide assessments all patients
upon return from outside emergency room evaluation or from special
hospitalization and write any orders as indicated. Minimum
Qualifications - Completion of approved Medical School and
Residency in Psychiatry, Family/General Medicine, or Internal
Medicine - License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of
Virginia - Active Virginia DEA number prior to approval of clinical
privilege Additional Considerations - Bilingual - Board Certified -
