As a System Administrator for the Federal Programs team located in Reston, Virginia, you will maintain, administer, and monitor hardware/software/configuration across multiple environments (Linux, UNIX and Windows) to ensure systems are operating at peak performance. The candidate will perform data backups, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed to restore normal system performance in the event of problems with hardware, software, networks, and systems. In addition, the candidate must be available to work various shifts, including weekends as required. You must have experience with and expertise in monitoring; software problem solving; providing phone support during problem resolution; and conducting disaster recovery operations. Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to transfer or obtain and maintain a public trust level clearance for the Department of Homeland Security. The System Administrator will be on rotating shift among other System Administrator and including weekends as required other.Rotating Shift Schedule:2nd Shift: 4:00pm-12:00am3rd Shift: 12:00am- 8:00am A week in the life of a System Administrator: You will review the shift pass down log to determine work to be performed during your shift You will monitor the performance of multiple servers that support a national biometric system You will answer service calls, triage issues, determine appropriate resolutions, and respond to emails to senior levels of government officials You will independently trouble shoot system issues and establish call bridges with appropriate personnel to ensure the system is restored to proper operating condition and all efforts are documented from start to closure You will support deployment activities and perform software upgrades and deployments You will take ownership and ensure that your government customer has been satisfied You will maintain and prepare a shift pass down log for subsequent shifts To succeed at this job, you must have: 3 yrs system administration experience UNIX (AIX) system administration experience Excellent communications skills, oral and written It would be preferred if you have LINUX (Suse) and Windows system administration experience JIRA or other ticket tracking systems You must be fluent in English. We would like someone to join our team who is experienced in AIX and Window OS; team oriented; and self-motivated.
