This job requires a strong focus on improving educational opportunities and outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged students, in the context of a competitive business environment.About the RoleThe Associate Agile Coach is an enthusiastic problem solver with superior interpersonal skills who thrives on being engaged at all levels of development process as facilitator and impediment remover for their team(s). The ideal candidate is an empathetic listener and creative thinker who is passionate about Agile principles and continuous improvement. This role will have a unique blend of Sr. Scrum Master who exhibits servant leadership, facilitation skills, and looking to grow into an Agile Coach. This member will be an integral part of Agile Center of Excellence team at the College Board.

The coach will play a critical leadership role in the College Board organization to improve the partnership between service units and business units, enable greater transparency into delivery progress, create a culture of continuous improvement, identify and eliminate waste, improve quality, and increase delivery flow and value generated by teams. This position actively participates in the College Board's Agile Center of Excellence through the Scrum Master Guild and has a positive influence on the College Board's Agile best practices and adoption across the organization.What you'll do



  • Facilitate team workshops to help new teams understand Agile and Lean principles, Scrum, Kanban, individual and team roles and responsibilities
  • Lead in the creation, delivery and strategy of Agile Training to employees and contractors regarding College Board Agile processes, tools, and policies
  • Help teams with sprint 0 planning and implementation, as well as provide ongoing Agile Coaching support for new Agile teams throughout multiple sprints
  • Support the Product Owner through applying effective techniques for managing their product backlog, maintaining focus on delivering features while maintaining high quality.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and team members to develop user stories and maintain a healthy product backlog.
  • Teach the team to create clear and concise backlog items, or facilitate workshops to help the continuous improvement journey of teams
  • Encourage the team to raise impediments, proactively seek out, and drive bringing resolution to those impediments
  • Follow College Board's Agile best practices and recommend improvements to enhance effectiveness.
  • Practice servant leadership supporting the needs of the team.
  • Create and keep team information radiators updated and visible. This role will help drive the relevancy of information being shared and ensure consistency in information about Agile Center of Excellence and ensure value being delivered by the voice of the customer.
  • Monitor relevant team metrics and continually analyze for continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Provide feedback to the Agile Center of Excellence on processes, policies, procedures, training, and tooling changes to better support the enterprise Agile transformation
  • Facilitate and coordinate cross team planning workshops, and coach other scrum masters to facilitate cross team planning workshops


    About you



    • A Bachelor's degree is required
    • Five to seven years of progressively responsible work experience


      More about you



      • Hands on experience with Agile (e.g.: Scrum, Kanban, etc)
      • Demonstrates expertise working with various Agile approaches (e.g.: Scrum, Kanban, etc)
      • Demonstrate full knowledge of Agile practices
      • Able to coach and mentor other Scrum Masters
      • Contributes to the College Board's Agile Center of Excellence through the Scrum Master Guild
      • Scrum Master for multiple teams (generally 2-3)
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Lead teams to be self-organizing
      • Demonstrates competencies and skills related to servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
      • Advanced verbal, presentation, facilitation, and written communication skills
      • Demonstrates high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Strong relationship building and influencing skills
      • Knowledge and experience with cultural and organization change
      • Experience training and mentoring teams
      • Knowledge of scaling Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum of Scrums, SaFE, LeSS, and DaD)
      • Preferred, but not required



        • Jira project and portfolio expertise
        • Certified Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Product Owner, and/or Certified Scrum Professional
