Java Application Developer Intern, #796 Clearance: Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance or higher as required Dev Technology Group is seeking talented rising juniors and seniors for our Summer 2025 Internship Program. This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking professional experience in software development, sysadmin, DevOps, or related field. What You'll Be Doing: Dev interns will work on a dynamic software development project in support of a government client. This is an opportunity to contribute to improving software development outcomes for our client, and to observe and participate in many aspects of an Agile software development project. Interns will also work on a technical intern project with the rest of the internship team. Practice Agile methodology by attending all Scrum-related meetings, such as daily stand-ups, weekly sprint planning, and weekly retrosAssist in the design, development, and testing of Java-based applicationsWrite clean, efficient, and maintainable code under the guidance of senior developersParticipate in code reviews to learn best practices and ensure code qualityCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliverablesTroubleshoot and debug existing applications to improve functionality and performanceDevelop unit tests to ensure application reliability and robustnessDocument code and processes to contribute to the team's knowledge baseStay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in Java developmentConduct an analysis of system issues raised by end-users by researching the code Work with fellow summer interns on a technically focused project and present the groups' results to the executive team at the end of the program. Past projects have included creating a mentorship web application, designing a wellness mobile application, and creating a technical environment as well as reaching out to local universities regarding a hackathon/tech challenge.Conduct external software testingWrite and maintain user guide documentationAttend corporate-level meetings to learn about other areas of the business, such as business development, finance, and project management Required Skills and Experience: Rising juniors and seniors working toward a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferredSolid understanding of Java programming language and object-oriented principlesFamiliarity with popular Java frameworks and tools (e.g., Spring, Hibernate, Maven) is a plusExperience with version control systems like GitStrong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learnAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication and collaboration skillsA passion for coding and technologyMust be able to commute to the Reston, Virginia office 2 days a week Preferred Skills and Experience: Rising senior strongly preferred Who We Are Dev Technology is a growing IT company with an employee-centric culture that works on mission-critical projects for the federal government.
