Salary: $87,198 (Step 01) to $113,362 (Step 10);

NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

As an INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST within the NATIONAL CIVIL APPLICATIONS CENTER, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Represents USGS and the Civil Applications Committee to Department of Defense and Intelligence Committee counterparts that enhances acquisition procedures, development of advanced imagery acquisition, and exploitation and dissemination.
  • Serves as a geospatial-intelligence collection manager and authority that carries out or directs geospatial-intelligence collection management projects which are broad in scope, difficult, and highly complex.
  • Analyzes customer requirements for geospatial intelligence and determine appropriate action to affect data collection management to meet those requirements.
  • Produces geospatial-intelligence remote sensing reports that supports the USGS mission that may be composed of derived image products, maps, graphics, and text.

Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?

  • This position is subject to random drug testing as a condition of employment. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test is received.

Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level:

Possess one year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-11 level work: minimum guidance from the supervisor and is responsible for duty based expertise in planning and managing tasks and following data and security policies; problem solve and coordinate work with staff members and/or higher level representatives; expert concerning acquisition and use of commercial and classified data regarding geospatial-intelligence; provide and recommend training to customers on the use and application on geospatial-intelligence data.
