Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Regional IT Project Manager on the U.S. Government Datacenter Operations team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's dedicated online services supporting the U.S. Government.

While our U.S. Government dedicated datacenter operations team has a sharp focus on serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions, together, all of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

Basic Qualifications:

Skills & capabilities that are critical to success include:

  • Utilization of critical thinking skills to conceptualize complex business problems and their solutions
  • Independently executing projects and help our site teams understand the findings and translate them into action to benefit our Datacenter Operations
  • Leading programs to align strategies, strategic plans, and solutions sets between the customer, internal groups, and datacenter operations
  • Demonstrating structured thinking, planning and the ability to execute by collaborating and working through others (teammates, SMEs and leadership teams) and influencing without authority
  • Communicating effectively and concisely with stakeholders and leaders about our programs and objectives

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of industry work experience in high security US Government environments requiring security clearances
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs in Data Center Operations or related fields
  • Experience developing and presenting executive level presentations and reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical College degree or certification in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong working knowledge of physical IT infrastructures (e.g. Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
  • Perform and execute organization's safety programs and policies, and compliance knowledge assessments

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Screen Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Screen background check upon hire/transfer and every two years after that while in this role.
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

As a successful Regional IT Project Manager, your performance objectives will consist of the following:

  • Analyze and interpret project data to provide recommendations and strategic recommendations for datacenter-related operations models, support, and implementation plans
  • Interpret customer requirements as they relate to standard operating procedures and drive parity between the two
  • Collaborate across internal groups, external suppliers, and customers
  • Document and improve processes around planning, implementation, operations, confidentiality, security, and compliance to ensure the work that is being done is securely, compliantly, efficiently, and per standards.
  • Represent Microsoft in engagements with internal/external entities and the U.S. Government
  • Participate in technical communities to stay informed of best practices and changes within the broader discipline and share them with the organization
  • Develop, create, implement, and support physical and operations security (OPSEC) policies, plans, and processes internal security and compliance teams that allow Datacenter Operations to operate in a manner that is compliant with relevant U.S. Government (and/or other unique environment) security standards and requirements for the operation of highly confidential and regulated projects.
  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of data center activities
  • Establish and enhance strong working relationships with customers
  • Create and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on time delivery
  • Plan, manage, and communicate end-to-end project plans with stakeholders and teams
  • Perform day to day project check-in and update to manage project delivery and quality
  • Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities and communicate to stakeholders and other teams to drive resolution
  • Gather and provide feedback on lessons learned, best practices, and innovations on process/procedures and tools to improve efficiencies and productivity
  • Work with various Engineering, Operations, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, DC Build Managers, and Regional Technical Infrastructure Managers during project planning and execution
