The Strategic Account Manager role is an executive sales position responsible for the sale of VMware solutions to assign System Integrator Customers namely Raytheon, BAE Systems, Boeing & CACI.


  • Proven track record of consistent quota over-achievement
  • Ability to travel 40 %+
  • 6+ years' experience in related software / IT sales
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Sales cycles
  • Proven ability to recognize, analyze, and execute on small and large-scale enterprise-wide business opportunities
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills. Ability to participate effectively in cross-functional teams and work well in a matrixed management environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent presentation skills - Dynamic presenter with the ability to convey information to all levels including CXO levels
  • Self-starter, with the ability to manage and report on simultaneous partner engagements
  • US-wide responsibility for selling VMware solutions, products, and services to assigned Federal Customers, typically 4-6 enterprise type accounts
  • Understanding the assigned accounts' extended business model and create offerings and solutions to meet corporate goals
  • Solidify existing customer accounts and elevate VMware to a more strategic position within all accounts
  • Must be able to sell VMware solution as a 'platform' within an account and change the role that IT plays within that account from being considered a cost burden to a strategic deployment
  • Manage complex enterprise sales campaigns while managing a diverse set of partners within the same accounts
  • Must exhibit general management style of sale while running a coordinated campaign within all entities of VMware
  • Experience selling cooperatively with Alliance Partners (IBM, Dell, HP, EMC, NetApp, etc)
  • Experience selling in both a direct and an indirect or Channel driven model
  • Experience leading a team of professionals in sales campaigns that include Sales Executives, Field SE's, Inside Sales, Field Marketing, Professional Services, etc.
  • Must have experience in selling in or around 'platform' sales such as ERP, CRM, Apps, etc.
  • Proven track record of success selling in a highly competitive environment


  • Business or Technical Undergraduate Degree; MBA degree is a plus
