Join us inlowering the cost of access to spaceand enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth!This position reports to the Flight Sciences Section in Blue Origin's Advanced Development Programs business unit.As part of a small, hardworking, and accomplished team of Mission Systems and Flight Operations Engineers, you will work closely with space vehicle and ground subsystem teams, leading and performing flight and operations development tasks throughout the full system lifecycle. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the mission operations concept, mission analysis and planning, flight planning, ground data systems, and tools used tooperate advanced spaceflight vehicles.You will enjoy a fast-paced dynamic environment, contributing innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail.   • Lead definition of the flight plan, operations concept, and designs that enable highly effective and labor-efficient real-time spacecraft and ground system operation, systems performance assessment and inter-team communication and coordination
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers representing flight vehicle systems, ground software, flight control operators and customers
  • Plan and perform frequentFlight Operationsproductupdate cycles, integration and test activities, and validation exercises leading to operations training events and flight.
  • Perform flight planning and mission timeline development activity
  • Support initiatives to improve MissionSystems andFlightOperationsengineering and other functional processes and tools
  • Perform analysis to ensure operability across theSpace-Ground System, and support efforts to improve operability where justifiedQualifications:
    • B.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or related technical field
    • Expertise in oneor moreof the following areas:
      • Space mission flight operations
      • Mission analysis, flight planning and timeline development (tool and analysis)
      • Ground-based Navigation (e.g.RF, Optical, etc.)
      • Spacecraft telemetry, commanding and sequencing
      • Operational fault management
      • Experience in a complex system lifecycle - requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification, validation, qualification, commissioning and/or operations
      • Strong understanding of the principles and methods of engineering complex systems
      • Demonstrated knowledge of all major spacecraft subsystems
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
      • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
      • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:
        • M.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or related technical field
        • Experience working on large complex programs with multiple partners
        • Experience defining and performing multifaceted trade studies
        • Experience with human spaceflight
        • Experience with model-based systems engineering methods and tools includingSysML
        • Familiarity with system safety analyses techniques including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
        • Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
        • Familiarity with version control, preferably Git
        • Experience with configuration and product data management tools, preferably Windchill
        • Experience working with and proposing to U.S. Government research agencies (e.g.NASA, AFRL, DARPA)The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
