As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will help direct the definition, requirements and execution of the mission operations system for the Blue Origin Space Transportation Program.As the Mission Operations Integrated Product Team Lead, you will oversee flight operations, mission planning, and the design and development of mission operations systems and infrastructure. This includes the requirements, design and testing of the flight and ground infrastructure and software, such as for Mission Operations Centers, Ground Antenna Networks, and ground software tools. This position will also require coordination with other Program elements involved in the architecture of the program and integration and coordination with other mission operations teams at Blue Origin. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a culture of operational excellence, and to ensure operational lessons and best practices are institutionalized and shared across programs at Blue Origin.This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.   • Accountable to the Space Transportation Program Manager for establishing the ground and mission infrastructure and team to plan, train for, and execute complex space missions.
  • Lead the Mission Operations team in performing mission planning functions, including developing timelines, time-phased budgets, specifying modes and transitions, activity planning, addressing flight rules and constraints, developing nominal and contingency plans and procedures
  • Define and negotiate service agreements with ground networks and infrastructure providers
  • Identify and train Flight Directors for mission operations
  • Lead the development of the Mission Operations System, including ground software development and verification, incorporating health monitoring, designing and implementing data and communication systems, developing fault recovery procedures, and developing and deploying operator training.
  • Coordinate and interface with customers to capture mission-unique operations requirements and analyses, and to provide accurate and timely insight into flight operations
  • Support flight element development teams in reviews and design-for-operability assessments.
  • Define and conduct mission simulations to validate overall system performance and reliability.Qualifications:
    • B.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or related technical field
    • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Space mission flight operations
    • Mission analysis, flight planning and timeline development (tool and analysis)
    • Ground-based Navigation (e.g. RF, Optical, etc.)
    • Spacecraft telemetry, commanding and sequencing
    • Operational fault management
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired (but not required) Qualifications:
      • M.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics or related technical field
      • 15+ years of relevant experience as a member of a mature and professional flight operations team performing dynamic, high consequence operations
      • 10+ years of relevant experience leading teams in the disciplined conduct of dynamic, high consequence operations
      • First principles knowledge of all major spacecraft subsystems
      • Experience in a complex system lifecycle - requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification, validation, qualification, commissioning and/or operations
      • Experience training and developing operations personnelThe expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
