As part of a growing, hardworking, and curious team of Systems Engineers you'll be deployed to programs that shape the future of Blue Origin. Your breadth in systems architecting, requirements generation, design, integration, verification, validation, and test as well as a depth in a particular subject matter (or matters) related to designing, developing, and evaluating the sub-systems of a spacecraft will lead to a rewarding continuation of your career.As part of a passionate and accomplished team, you will contribute to the development of the space vehicle acceptance and performance test campaign planning. In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will create the test plan to execute testing at a vehicle level of all subsystems on space vehicles in parallel with vehicle assembly and integration and through final testing in preparation for launch.You will contribute to the successful completion a major test campaign. Including planning, writing test plans and test procedures, developing test equipment, and compiling test reports.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively the future of spaceflight.   • Plan and develop test procedures for vehicle level testing. Execute test procedures as part of an integrated test team covering 3 shifts operations.
  • Have some customer interactions as pertaining to test planning and execution.
  • Apply extensive understanding on a wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts associated with vehicle-level system testing including acceptance and qualification tests: specification performance, structural, leak and pressure, vibration, acoustic, shock, thermal balance, and thermal vacuum, and electromagnetic.
  • Have frequent inter-organizational and customer interactions on difficult technical issues
  • Will work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions
  • Work with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the vehicle subsystems, ensuring the tests are designed to verify the pertinent requirements
  • Participate in test readiness review, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews.
  • Develop procedures and software automation that will be used during launch operations
  • Develop, manage, and maintain test GSE
  • Write test procedures and manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
  • Be the test engineer executing the test procedure, ensuring all steps and processes are followed, be accountable to the safety of the hardware and people involved in the test.
  • Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
  • Support on-site launch operations to prepare the vehicle for flight
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasksQualifications:
    • BS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical discipline
    • 3+ years of applicable experience
    • Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning or operations
    • Knowledge of other related disciplines such as vehicle level acceptance and qualification test, electrical ground support equipment, ground support equipment, test facilities
    • Ability to use engineering skills used to design, develop, and evaluate astronautical/mechanical/structural systems and hardware such as the descent element
    • Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process
    • Travel of 25% during planning and probable travel of 75% during periods of integration and test to multiple test sites
    • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDesired (but not required):
      • Experience defining, designing, and/or operating electrical ground support equipment
      • Experience defining, designing, and/or procuring ground support equipment
      • Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)

      • Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and WindchillThe expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
